Pear pancakes with peanut butter

Foggy Saturday morning. Well, okay, I admit - it was already afternoon. Still foggy though. The last thing I was keen on doing, was to go out to buy something for breakfast. I took a quick check on what's in stock and once I noticed pears that have beeing lying in the fridge for three days, I made a quick decission: pancakes! It's the first time I used pears to make a pancake dough and I was pleasanlty surprised with the end result. You should definitely give this option a go!

Buckwheat bake

Man, this bake has it all - the taste, the look, the smell. Simple ingredients combined in not so obvious form of a bake. Perfect for chilly, autumn days. You would be surprised, but it actually smells like pizza! I prepared it for the first time as a total experiment for my family, turned out so good, my mum called me the following weekend asking for the recipe - so, here we go! 

White Chocolate Cheesecake. The best one.

This is the must-bake for every Christmas in my family, for several years already. Creamy, semi-sweet cheese, whole grain cookie crust and the sour cream topping - in one word: magic.
There's a bunch of different recipes for a cheesecake with white chocolate on the internet. Leave them all behind - this one is a combination on all the best treats from them and a little healthy-upgrade. I guess I wouldn't be myself if I hadn't done that.
I have to warn you though. It's delicious. Far from diet, but still, I find cheesecake the less invasive option among Polish Christmas bakings. Especially as you can replace the sugar with xylitol or other natural sweetener without taste detriment. I love this cheesecake so much I'm smiling just by wrtiting about it :)

Poland vs. Korea I

I co, fajnie było? - pytanie, które po powrocie z Korei słyszałam często gęsto.Cudownie! W Korei naprawdę było cudownie. Ale chyba nie chciałabym zostać tam na stałe - taka oto padała odpowiedź. Bo Korea jest wspaniała, spędziłam tam sześć najpiękniejszych miesięcy mojego życia. Nie było ani jednego tak słabego dnia, w którym miałabym ochotę rzucić wszystko i wracać do Polski. Zachwyciłam się Koreą. Korea mnie uwiodła ;)
Jednak zachwyt ten nie pozostawał bez refleksji. Rzeczy, które są oczywiste i sprawdzają się w Azji, dla osoby przesiąkniętej kulturą Zachodu na dłuższą metę byłyby nie do przyjęcia. Powiedziałam kiedyś, że im dłużej jestem w Korei, tym więcej dobrych cech naszego kraju dostrzegam. Mimo to, wyjeżdżając z Korei żal ściskał mi serce, a z oczu płynęły łzy. Po dwóch tygodniach w kraju, już pogodzona z rzeczywistością i z nadal świeżymi wspomnieniami z Korei mogę porównać te dwa wspaniałe kraje, a o tym, gdzie faktycznie lepiej żyć, zdecydujecie sobie sami ;)

-So, it was nice in Korea, wasn't it? - the question I've heard countless amount of times since I came back.- Wonderful! Korea was really amazing. But I'm not sure if I wanted to stay there for good - was my usual answer.Because Korea is indeed wonderful, I've spent there the best six months of my life. There was not even one day so bad, that I'd want to leave everything and go back to Poland. I was amazed with Korea. Korea seduced me.

But the admiration over Korea wasn't without any reflection. Things that are obvious and work well in Asia, for someone raised in Western culture would be unacceptable in the long run. I've said before that the longer I live in Korea, the more good points of living in Poland I see. But still, it was hard to leave Korea and I really had tears in my eyes when I was boarding the plane.

After two weeks in my motherland, almost having accepted the reality of being back and yet still having fresh memories from Korea, I can compare those two great countries and where is it better to live, you can decide on your own ;) 

Kefir in Korea #13: I love you, Korea!

I love this country, I really do. My sympathy for Korea went way far beyond my expectations. I could write a long epic story filled with emotional admirations, but instead of that I'll name all of the things j'adore about the country of the morning calm :)

Kocham ten kraj, naprawdę. Sympatia, jaką obdarzyłam Koreę przeszła moje najśmielsze oczekiwania. Mogłabym napisać powieść pełną emocjonalnych uwielbień, lecz miast tego wyliczę wszystkie te małe i duże rzeczy, za które kocham ten kraj porannego spokoju :)

Kefir in Korea #7: The Buddhist Experience

Last sunday was unforgettable. Thanks to Cham Education & Culture organisation I had the opportunity to participate in a very special event: Seoul Traditional Temple Week. There was a few options to choose from and I went for a whole day trip and visited three absolutely amazing temples.

Ostatnia niedziela była niezapomniana. Dzięki organizacji Cham Education & Culture miałam okazję wziąć udział w niezwykłym wydarzeniu: Seulskim Tygodniu Tradycyjnych Świątyń. Opcji do wyboru było kilka, ja zdecydowałam się na całodniową wycieczkę i dzięki temu zwiedziłam trzy niezwykłe świątynie.

Kefir in Korea #6: When a crab tries to runaway // Kiedy krab próbuje uciec

Nienawidzę robić zakupów. Z jednym wyjątkiem - kupowania żywności. Naprawdę sprawia mi to przyjemność, czytanie etykiet, odkrywanie perełek, nowości. Nazwijmy to zboczeniem zawodowym ;)

I hate shopping. Except of one thing - buying food. I really enjoy that, I like reading labels, checking ingredients, finding 'must haves', novelties. Let's just call it an occupational quirk ;)

Kefir in Korea #5: Gates / Bramy

Bramy i wejścia to w Korei rzecz absolutnie niezwykła.

Są imponujące i pięknie wykonane. I nie tylko znajdujące się w reprezentatywnych miejscach zabytkowe bramy do miasta. Najpiękniejsze wydają mi się te ukryte w gąszczu wąskich uliczek. 

Zresztą, niech historię opowiedzą zdjęcia ;) 

Gates and entrances in Korea are something absolutely special. They look impressive and are very detailed. And it's only about old city-gates located in representative places. The most beautiful to me are these, hidden somewhere in the labyrinth of backstreets.
